All over the world, at Easter, but not just the Easter weekend, this confession will be made – He’s Alive! Jesus Christ is alive. And He is. This truth changes things. He said He would be crucified, and He was. He said He would rise from the dead and He did. He said He loves us, and He does. He said He’d be with us, and He is. The implications of those words He’s alive, are incredible.
A terrible tragedy. We send our love and pray for all those effected. May we all find His grace, His peace, and offer extra kindness to those around us. Then the outpouring of love, compassion and solidarity all across our nation and the world, has been amazing.
Seasons come and seasons go. We know that in the natural. But in life it’s the same. We live through one season, it comes to and end, and we enter a new season. Sometimes it’s hard, and painful, especially if the season we were in was a good one.
As we approach Christmas, we can get caught up in the busyness, the pressure, the hype, the hurry, the deals and deadlines, and forget the reason for the season. In the busyness of celebrating Christmas – and let’s celebrate well – lets also pause, remember all that Lord has done for us, and give thanks! Let’s thank God for loving us, sending the Saviour, forgiving us, filling us with His Spirit, and preparing a place for us to live with Him forever.
The Almighty is the God who is enough! He is more than sufficient to meet any need. He is power and provision. In great compassion, He sustains, nourishes and protects me. He takes my weakness and gives me strength. He takes my inadequate resources and in His sufficiency uses them for His great and powerful purposes.
As leaders, of churches, groups, businesses and families, responsible workers, diligent students, busy Mums, I believe there is also a call to us to do the very same thing. God is calling us to “ … be there … “, with Him, on the mountain. On the mountain, away from distractions, away from the mundane of life, up with The Lord.
Now, “Brief Word” goes into more that 40 nations of the world. People from many different stations in life and callings and cultures receive it. Working men and women, mothers, pastors, evangelists, retired, people faithfully serving the King and His Kingdom in various roles.
I was struck by an amazing truth! When you’re not well, but (well enough to) get up and get dressed, you do feel better. How much more, when we get up, and no matter how we’re feeling, dress ourselves with God’s presence and dress ourselves with His Word! What a difference that makes!
Are there things in our lives which we do, things that we know God has led us into, and which proved fruitful and productive for that time, but which are now not working? Has some plan, process, or program had its day, and its season is now over? Is there a change God would bring to us to move us on to the next phase of life?
Habits can make or break us. I’m sure there are those we know of who’s lives have been ruined by bad habits. Conversely, there are those we may look up to and admire for their success and blessing they’re experiencing and how well they’ve done in life, which they would say are simply the result of their habits.
