There are many tensions we have to live with. Two things that at first appear to oppose one another, and we wonder which one is right. Things like what we have received, and what we are receiving. And many of us find this difficult to live with.
Are you and I satisfied? Are we? Are we content, fulfilled, happy, pleased, filled with the joy of the Lord? One thing is for sure, if we immerse ourselves in the daily news and world events, we will not find any peace and satisfaction there.
In spite of all that’s going on in the world today, I am still pondering this great theme, of the goodness of God. In my readings I am coming across it time and again. The current political, economic, and social climate around the world, does not change my view of who God is.
Sometimes we perceive things about God and ourselves that are just plain wrong. But to us at the time we are convinced that the way we see things, the way we understand things about God and ourselves are right. But the truth and facts sometimes prove us wrong.
My body is not the real me. My health history and current state is not me. The aches and pains I feel are not me. I am not my body. It is the house for the presence of the Lord, and it is a place where I live as well, for the moment.
The issue of Righteousness: This is a great truth, and one which has enormous ramifications on our everyday life. It certainly has on mine. God is righteous. Totally. We come to Him based on His righteousness, not ours.
The Message of the Cross is plain and simple – it is the good news that we can be saved. It is that but much more, it is being just, or right with God, or in right standing with God. We call that righteousness.
Do you know what your future is? Because it’s easy to be distracted by the events of life, and forget what our destiny really is. For those who believe in Jesus, there awaits us a future we need to be reminded of from time to time. And I believe this is one of those times.
There is good news. Very good news. The most important connection we need to make is with Jesus and His Word. That’s the connection which will breed faith and not fear, peace and not perplexity. That’s the connection we should make on a regular basis.
Maybe life for you is confusing, uncertain, unknown, unplan-able. The verse in our text for Brief Word this month, has inspired me, and I know it is a word to some of you. “I will make a way”. Isaiah 43:18-19 Yes He will.
