The Message of the Cross is plain and simple – it is the good news that we can be saved. It is that but much more, it is being just, or right with God, or in right standing with God. We call that righteousness.

Jesus never asks us to do anything He has not done, go anywhere He has not gone, including death. That indeed is the characteristic of a leader who people will follow. But first comes the cross. No cross, no crown.
