God Will Make A Way
- Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, Isaiah 43:16. NKJV.
- Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it? I’m making a way in the desert, paths in the wilderness. Isaiah 43:19 CEB
God is so good! He really is. As we came down to the end of December, I was thinking about the new year about to begin and praying at the same time asking the Lord for a word for this year. I know He has answered my prayer.
So on New Year’s day I was waiting on the Lord early, and reading and writing and praying about the year. Then Holy Spirit just wrote this verse (Isaiah 43:16, 19) on my heart.
The thing is it is God who makes a way, and path, a route, He makes the way, the path, and the route. Waters could speak of many decisions, many options, many people, many voices, and choices. But it is God who makes a way. It is the Lord who makes it clear, who guides, who leads. It is the Lord, not a good idea, not a fad, not a dream, not even a vision. But it is God. He makes a way, a path, and it is through. We are then able to pass through something unharmed, unaffected, and unhurt.
- Thus says the Lord – Creator
- who makes – Creates
- a way – Clears
- And a path – Corridor
- through – Conveyance
- in the sea – Colossal
- the mighty waters – Crowd
God will make a way!
O how we need to keep close to the Creator, close to the Lord, to hear His heart and voice. When God speaks a word, I for one want to be there to hear it. I want to be one who is there in His presence and hear His words. When God says something, it is significant, important, creative, so I want to be there to be a part of that, so that I might bring Him glory.
There are many voices clamouring for our attention, but it is only the Lord, our Creator, who Creates and Clears, a Corridor, so that our Conveyance through the Colossal Crowd of decisions and options is brought about safely. Thank You Lord!
I knew what this was about specifically, and I knew what it was not about. This is NOT saying that tough times are coming, no. It is not prophesying that there are times coming where we are going to cry out to the Lord to be with us and bring us through something. No. Of course God will make a way and create a pathway through the tough times we face, and through waters that seem so deep we are in danger of drowning. That is entirely true.
I knew the Holy Spirit was revealing something important. It is that there are many options, many choices and many voices all wanting us to go their way. But in the midst of all that, all the things that could be good, even things that have some promise of what we should do, the Lord will make His way known to us. He will reveal to us, He will guide us, He will create a pathway, a way, a corridor for us to pass through this myriad of decisions we have to make, so that we will know this is the will of God.
There are many things we could do this year. But there are just a few things we should do this year. God will reveal those to us.
When we stay on the path, even though there are attractive things just off the path, interesting, colourful things that maybe others are doing, distractions, and time wasters, energy sappers, vision stealers; we must not stop walking along our pathway. Our pathway is our pathway. It is not the pathway of others, and theirs is not ours. Stick to the pathway God has provided. Stick to our course, stick to our gifting and our calling and we will find success, blessing, anointing.
I identify with this so well. I thank the Lord for this word. I have many ideas, dreams, possibilities and options, things that I could do which all seem great and could be a benefit to others and are even in line with my gifts and calling. But there are just a few things, maybe even only one thing just now, that I need to know is the will of God. The one thing now that is His option for me and where His anointing is. That’s the thing I want to do.
My one thing now. This is a good thought. There’s a one thing now, that the Lord has for us, and when we know it we can focus on it, and thrive in it, committed to it, rather than being pulled this way and that by many things. When we know our one thing now, then we are in the place of God’s blessing upon our service for Him. Today, this week, this month, maybe even this morning, this hour, there is a one thing now thing, and when we find it and focus on it and commit to it, we are fruitful and productive for Jesus. Staying on our pathway is to stay in our one thing now. We will achieve much more in the Lord by staying on our pathway, our path, our way.
God will make a way!
- God will make a way for that leadership decision.
- God will make a way in that relationship issue.
- God will make a way in that business dilemma.
- God will make a way in the array of options.
- God will make a way for your gifts and calling to be used for His glory.
- God will make a way in that health issue.
- God will make a way in that parenting problem.
- God will make a way in that technical trial.
- God will make a way for your loved ones to hear the Gospel and be saved.
What options are there for you this year? Are you struggling over what to choose and what is the will of God for you? The word of the Lord is, “Thus says the Lord…” He promises to make a way in the sea. And a path through the mighty waters.
Let’s be faithful this year to be in His presence, to be there before Him and in position so that we can hear His voice. I’d much rather hear His way than try to do it my way.
God will make a way! He will create a path.
Remember, it is only the Lord, our Creator, who Creates and Clears, a Corridor, so that our Conveyance through the Colossal Crowd of decisions and options is brought about gloriously. Thank You Lord!

Good Words – Short Thought Podcast Series, is a short thought of just two to three minutes. It is short, to the point, there’s no waffle, fill-ins, or wasted words. It is punchy, pointed, and purposeful, it is relevant, refreshing, and retainable. It is thought-provoking, idea-inspiring, and, just, well, good words.
It is based around an idea, sometimes a verse from the Bible, or a quote, and then an easy-to-listen-to thought, that springs from that.
It will be available on the Spotify platform.
Watch this space. I’ll send you the link in the February Brief Word.
Thank you.
